Les Canards Chantants will be joining St. Stephen's for a special performance of their Transcendence to Transparency. This program is a "before-and-after look at the changing face of sacred music in Europe during the Reformation, with Latin and vernacular works by the greatest composers who lived and worked through this tumultuous time, including Walter, Clemens non Papa, Sweelinck, and Tallis."
Join us as we welcome soprano Alize Rozsnyai and pianist David Hughes for a special vocal recital, In Love's Shadow. This performance will feature works by Henry Purcell, Robert Schumann's Op. 25, Myrthen, and George Crumb, including the entirety of George Crumb's mysterious and beloved work, Apparition for Soprano and Amplified Piano.
Presented at St. Stephen’s by Variant 6 | In a new commission for Variant 6, Boston-based composer Jeremy Gill sets excerpts from Blaise Pascal’s enigmatic texts, highlighting the threads of doubt that make up the tapestry of faith. Variant 6 pairs this world premiere with other music that contemplates devoutness and doubt during troubling times.
